Customized Substrate for Specific Philodendron Needs

In general, for Philodendron cultivation, a mixture of ingredients that provide good permeability and substrate moisture such as Coconut Chips and Ceramsite or Perlite, and organic additives such as Pine Bark and Vermicompost, which will provide the plant with nutrients, is recommended.

It is best to avoid regular garden soils as they are usually too heavy and impermeable for Philodendrons, which can lead to water stagnation and root diseases.

The best solution is to provide the plant with conditions as close as possible to those in nature. That is why we have taken all these needs into account when creating the appropriate mix for these plants.

Convenient Ziplock Packaging

We pack our substrates in packages equipped with a convenient ziplock, thanks to which you can easily close the bag when you do not use the whole substrate. In addition, the packaging is 100% recyclable.

How Does Philodendron Grow in Nature?

Philodendrons are evergreen plants and grow in nature as epiphytes or ground plants in humid tropical forests, mainly in Central and South America.

In the case of epiphytic Philodendrons, i.e., those that grow on trees, these plants grow out of the ground, leaning on the branches of trees that provide them with support and food. Over time, Philodendron roots surround the branch on which they grow, creating strong supports and absorbing moisture and organic nutrients that are found in the nooks and crannies of tree bark.

Meanwhile, ground Philodendrons grow directly in the soil, usually in shaded, moist, and nutrient-rich areas. They have adventitious roots that create many supports and help the plant stay upright.

Overall, Philodendrons are well adapted to life in tropical conditions and grow in very different environments, from lowland rainforests to mountainous areas of moist foggy forests.

How to Achieve Greater Plant Growth?

To achieve greater plant growth, we recommend watering the plant with liquid biohumus or sprinkling worm castings in loose form a week after planting. Additionally, you can enhance growth by watering the plant every two weeks with an NPK 20-20-20 or similar fertilizer.

How to Water Your Philodendron ?

Remember that Philodendrons dislike overwatering. Make sure your pot has drainage holes at the bottom, and ensure that water doesn't pool in the saucer after watering.
