Substrate for Moisture-Loving Plants

Specialized substrates for moisture-loving plants that require high air humidity and constantly moist soil in a pot. However, it should be remembered that although they need high humidity most of the time, these plants do not like stagnant water in the pot, which leads to rotting of the roots and the death of the plant. The substrate for moisture-loving plants should be permeable, porous and at the same time should maintain the humidity at the appropriate level for a long time.

Permeable substrate for exotic plants

Exotic plants such as Calathaa, Syngonium of Wendlandia, Spathiphyllum, Alocasia Black Velvet, Alocasia Dragon Scale, Pilea Peperomioides, Begonia Maculata, Chlorophytum which like moisture, usually do not tolerate stagnant water, the stagnation of which causes rotting of the roots and the death of the plant. They usually grow in tropical forests, where there is high air and soil humidity and high temperatures. They need a permeable substrate that will provide air access to the roots of the plant and at the same time will keep the humidity at the right level. Such a substrate should contain expanded clay, pebbles, vermiculite, perlite and nutrients which keep humidity e.g. coconut fiber. It is worth remembering about an additional layer of drainage at the bottom of the pot.
