What soil mix for Aroids?

Aroids are a very large family of plants that grow in different conditions and have different substrate requirements. They are mainly found in tropical forests, but can also be found in temperate climates. Therefore, there is no universal substrate for Aroids, but most of them need a permeable substrate. Some prefer very fertile and humus-rich substrates, others prefer undisturbed access of air to the roots.

Epipremnum, Scindapsus, Anthurium spathiflora, zamioculcas require a slightly acid fertile substrate, but loosened with perlite, expanded clay, coconut chips for proper permeability - a suitable fertile, humus and permeable substrate.

Monsteras, philodendrons and the like need a very loose substrate, the structure of which will ensure proper air circulation in the pot - an airy-flow substrate that holds moisture.
