Live Sphagnum Moss is a natural and invaluable additive used in substrates for carnivorous plants, orchids and bromeliads. In the dried form, it retains all its wonderful properties, just soak it. It can be added as an addition to peat, soil or coconut fiber, which will create an ideal substrate for rooting cuttings, epiphytes such as orchids, i.e. the popular orchid. Spagnum moss absorbs water very well and retains moisture perfectly, while preventing the plant from overflowing.
Moss forms a turf that is pale green-blue to yellow-brown in color when wet. It becomes whitish when dried. It has straight, yellow-brown stems about 10-30 cm long. Stem leaves tongue-shaped, almost flat, about 2 mm long, twig leaves arranged in tiles, up to 2 mm long.
to easy storage, the moss is sold in the form of compressed Sphagnum cubes. The moss should be placed in a container of water and allowed to swell. Liquid fertilizer can be added to the water in a dose appropriate for the given plant. After swelling, the sphagnum is ready to use. Before use, lightly squeeze the moss to get rid of excess water.
