Reptile Systems ECO T5 UNIT 15% UV Tube Lamp for Terrarium

The Eco T5 Zone 4 lamp has been added to the range to provide high-quality lighting at an affordable price, giving everyone access to good UV lighting. This lightweight single lamp with an integrated reflector combines the Reptile Systems HOT5 lamp with a reliable, flicker-free electronic ballast in one convenient package. It features a removable 103° reflector, which, with its non-coated highly reflective surface, provides wide light dispersion and offers some of the best results achievable for a unit of this type.

How to Light a Terrarium?

Reptile lamps have been designed to accurately replicate the sunlight spectrum, producing a full-spectrum lamp with balanced amounts of UVA and UVB while producing excellent natural colors. We recognized the need for high-quality UV lighting for reptiles to convert it into vitamin D3 through a series of chemical reactions. This process is self-regulating and is essential for reptiles to absorb calcium from their diet, reducing the risk of metabolic bone disease.

How often to replace the UVB bulb?

UVB bulbs emit ultraviolet B radiation, which is essential for reptiles and amphibians to synthesize vitamin D3 and maintain a healthy calcium-phosphorus balance. Typically, it is recommended to replace the UVB bulb every 6-12 months as the UVB radiation starts to weaken after that time, and animals may not receive an adequate amount of the required light.

Ferguson's Zones

The most advanced and enlightened way to determine UV requirements for your reptile is to use Ferguson's zones. These zones are divided based on UV requirements and natural basking properties for selected species. Locate your animal on the chart or one that closely resembles its behavior, and it will indicate the zone you need.

Note:

Due to the budget nature of this particular unit, it is NOT compatible with the Reptile Systems T5 New Dawn LED but is suitable for all standard T5 fluorescent lamps for reptiles and birds.
